A project story from the Claris trade portfolio. Toronto, 2025.
Two washrooms, two custom mirrors
OCHE King West is a hospitality venue in Toronto's King West. Design is part of the night. Interior designer Krista Toman specified two Claris pieces for the washrooms, one for each room, each drawn to its own brief.
The work was custom from the start. Krista set the shapes and the mood. Claris built the glass, the lighting, and the form to match.
Men's washroom: a twin-circle mirror
The men's room takes the Gemini design language: two circles, joined, outlined in crisp LED. Graphic lines, clean edges. Behind the glass, a retro-pattern wallpaper repeats in the reflection, so the mirror doubles the room's energy instead of flattening it. The piece was sized to the wall and lit to read sharp under low light.
Women's washroom: the Butterfly
The women's room uses Butterfly, an asymmetric mirror drawn from the curve of a wing. It hangs as a single Left or Right piece, 26 by 43.5 inches, on Diamond ClearVision Belgian glass. Soft backlight runs the perimeter, so the mirror appears to float against the patterned wall. The light is even and easy on the face. The form reads as sculpture before it reads as a mirror.
Why it works
Two rooms, one standard of finish. Both mirrors carry true-colour Belgian glass and integrated LED. Both were specified, not pulled off a shelf. That is what a Claris project looks like: the designer sets the vision, and every dimension, shape, and light follows the room.
